MUNICIPAL CHARTERS
following information concerning the Charter Amendment:
(1) the complete text of this resolution; (2) the date of
the referendum or election, if any, held with respect
thereto; (3) the number of votes cast for and against the
question contained in the Charter Amendment, whether by
the Council of the City of Laurel or any referendum; and
(4) the effective date of the Charter Amendment.
AND BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor of the City of
Laurel be and he is specifically enjoined and instructed
to carry out the provisions as hereinbefore stated as
evidence of compliance herewith, the said Mayor shall
cause to be affixed to the minutes of this meeting:
1. An appropriate certificate of publication in the
newspaper in which the title of this resolution
shall have been published; and
2. Return receipts of the mailing referred to in
the before sections, and shall further complete and
execute the certificate of effect attached hereto.

RESOLUTION NO. 1st of 1973
A RESOLUTION of the City of Laurel adopted pursuant
to the provisions of Article 23A, Sections 11 through 18,
titled Corporations - Municipal, subtitled Charter
Amendments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1973
Replacement Volume) to amend the Charter of the City of
Laurel, Section 10 entitled "Government — Mayor", to
reduce the age limit of a candidate seeking election to
the office of the Mayor to twenty—five (25) years of age,
to exclude the requirement that a candidate for election
to the office of Mayor own real property within the City
and has paid the real estate taxes thereon, to increase
the term of office of Mayor to four (4) years, to
increase the salary of the Mayor, and to require that the
Mayor remain a resident of the City while holding office.
THEREFORE: BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR
AND CITY COUNCIL OF LAUREL, MARYLAND, That Section 10 of
the Charter of the City of Laurel, entitled "Government -
Mayor'1 be amended by the exclusion of the word "thirty"
and the substitution in lieu thereof of the word
"twenty-five," by the exclusion of the words "who has
been assessed upon the assessment books of said town for
the year prior to his election for not less than three
hundred dollars, and who has paid prior to his election
the taxes due thereon for said year", by the exclusion of
