MUNICIPAL CHARTERS
A Resolution and Ordinance to repeal Section 162 of
Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Wicomico
County (1965 Edition) title "Hebron", sub-title
"Referendum on Bonds", relating to the holding of a
referendum by the voters of Hebron before any bonds shall
be issued for the construction of a Sewerage system or
treatment plant in the Town of Hebron.
SECTION 1. BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDAINED BY THE
COMMISSIONERS OF HEBRON, by virtue of authority granted
in Article 11E of the Constitution of Maryland, that
Section 162 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Laws of
Wicomico County (1965 Edition) title "Hebron", sub—title
"Referendum on Bonds" be and the same is hereby repealed.
162. Referendum on Bonds.
[The Commissioners before issuing bonds for any of
said improvements shall first at a special or regular
election, submit to the voters of Hebron the question
whether or not the said bonds shall be issued, and upon
the ballots to be used at said election there shall be
printed or written the words "For Sewerage Bonds" and
"Against Sewerage Bonds", and if a majority of the votes
cast upon said question shall be "For Sewerage Bonds"
then the said Commissioners shall exercise the power
vested in them by this subtitle and shall issue the bonds
authorized by this subtitle; but if a majority of the
votes cast upon the question shall be "Against Sewerage
Bonds," the power shall not be exercised nor the bonds
issued, but the said Commissioners, however, shall have
the power to submit the question at such succeeding
regular municipal elections until a majority of the votes
cast on said question shall be "For Sewerage Bonds," at
which time they shall exercise the power conferred by
the subtitle, and issue the bonds authorized by this
subtitle.]
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDAINED
BY THE COMMISSIONERS OF HEBRON, that this Repeal shall
take effect fifty (50) days from the date of the passage
thereof.
