EASTON

Resolution of the Town of Easton, adopted pursuant
to the authority of Article 11E of the Constitution of
Maryland, and Section 13 of Article 23A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1973 Repl. Vol.) titled "Corporations —
Municipal", sub—title Home Rule, sub—heading "Charter
Amendments", to amend Article VI, Sec. 15, of the
Charter of the Town of Easton, which Section is headed
"Taxation — Tax Year and Due Date; Discounts; Interest on
Overdue Taxes," to provide that on the first day of
October next succeeding the levy thereof taxes shall be
deemed to be in arrears and interest shall be charged and
collected on all taxes not then paid.

SECTION 1. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF EASTON, that Article VI, Sec. 15 of the Charter
of the Town of Easton, being a part of Article 21 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), as
amended, titled "Talbot County", sub—title "Easton", be
and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:

Sec. 1. The Council shall make their annual levy
on or before the regular meeting in June
of each year, and the same shall be due
and payable on the first day of July of
the year of the levy; and on all taxes
paid on or before the first day of
September a discount of three per cent
may be allowed; on the first day of
[September] OCTOBER next succeeding the
levy thereof taxes shall be deemed to be
in arrears and interest shall be charged
and collected on all taxes not then
paid, and the town clerk shall take the
discount from or add the interest to the
tax bills regularly, in the manner
aforesaid, and shall note the same upon
his books and upon receipt given for
taxes so paid; but the discount allowed
by this Section shall not be made to any
person, persons or corporate
institutions, unless the whole amount of
taxes due by such person, persons or
corporate institutions for the current
year are paid at the time of making such
discount.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the
date of adoption of this Resolution is October 15, 1973,
and the amendment of the Charter of the Town of Easton
hereby enacted shall become effective on unless a
proper petition for a referendum hereon shall be filed as
permitted by law, provided a complete and exact copy of
this Resolution shall be continuously posted on the
