designate one of the four as the Chief Supervisor of
Elections.
WHEREAS, the growing complexities of elections
within the City require closer and more constant
supervision and,
WHEREAS, the growing voter registrations and
listings require additional man hours for the
registration of voters and the formulation and
maintenance of voter lists,,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Section 13,
Article VI of the Charter of the City of College Park is
hereby amended to read as follows:
§ 13. Registration Officials.
The Mayor and Council shall provide for the biennial
registration of all persons not registered who shall
desire to vote in municipal elections held in the City of
College Park, and for the revision of the registration
lists, and, more than one (1) month prior to the date of
the general election, shall biennially appoint and fix
the compensation of [three (3)] FOUR (4) qualified voters
of said city, not holding any office thereunder, as
Supervisors of Election who shall act as Registration
Officials and Judges of Election at any elections held
during the two (2) years succeeding their appointment,
one (1) of whom shall be appointed from the qualified
voters of the First[,] AND Second [or Third] Districts, a
second from among the qualified voters of Districts THREE
AND Four [and five}, [and] the third from among the
qualified voters of the FIFTH AND Sixth [seventh and
eighth] Districts, AND THE FOURTH FROM AMONG THE
QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE SEVENTH AND EIGHTH DISTRICTS, and
such Supervisors of Election are hereby authorized to
administer oaths in the performance of their duties of
conducting the registration provided for herein. THE
MAYOR AND COUNCIL SHALL DESIGNATE ONE OF THE FOUR
SUPERVISORS OF ELECTION AS THE CHIEF SUPERVISOR OF
ELECTIONS.
