MARVIN MANDEL, Governor 3151
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill
1243.
This bill authorizes the Washington Metropolitan
Area Transit Authority to establish and maintain a police
force, and generally sets forth the powers and
jurisdiction of the police force.
Senate Bill 733, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 31, 1974, accomplishes
the same purposes as House Bill 1243, and it is therefore
unnecessary for me to sign House Bill 1243.
Sincerely,
/s/ Marvin Mandel
Governor

fuels; and to make recommendations regarding sources
of State and federal funding of coal mining in
Western Maryland; and providing generally for the
issue and sale of bonds evidencing such loan.
May 31, 1974.
