A House Joint Resolution concerning

Preservation of Kangaroos

FOP the purpose of urging the Honorable Rogers C. B.
Morton, Secretary of the Interior, to place the
kangaroo on the United States Government List of
Endangered Fish and Wildlife in order to halt the
needless slaughter of the dwindling number of
Australian Kangaroos.

The kangaroo is one of the most interesting species
in the animal world, carrying its young in a pouch,
traveling about with a strange hopping motion, intriguing
adults, and delighting the imagination of children the
world over who make its acquaintance in their story
books.

Thus, it is easy to understand why this marsupial
became Australia's national symbol. They have existed
for over a million years, during which time they have
adapted to a completely waterless climate. Only
measuring an inch and weighing a few ounces at birth, the
young rarely leave the mother's pouch during the first
