such elective office during such suspension;

providing__for the reinstatement__of__such elected

official under certain circumstances; providing for
the restoration of pay for the period of suspension
under certain circumstances; ]] for the suspension
without pay or benefits of certain elected officials

from office upon conviction of or the entry of

certain pleas to certain crimes and for the removal
of such officials if the conviction becomes final,
after judicial review; providing for the appointment
of a person to temporarily fill such elective office
during such suspension; providing for the
reinstatment of such elected official under certain
circumstances; providing for the restoration of pay

and benefits under certain circumstances; generally

relating to suspension and removal of certain
elected officials for certain Misconduct and the
filling of vacancies thus created; and submitting
this amendment to the qualified voters of the State
for adoption or rejection.

Section 3

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, (Three-fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses concurring), That the following be
and the same is hereby proposed as an amendment to the
Constitution of Maryland, by adding new Section 3 to
Article XV — Miscellaneous, the same, if adopted by the
legally qualified voters of the State, as herein
provided, to become a part of the Constitution of
Maryland:

[[ANY ELECTED OFFICIAL OF THE STATE WHO IS CONVICTED
OF ANY CRIME WHICH IS A FELONY OR FOR WHICH THE PENALTY
MAY BE CONFINEMENT IN ANY INSTITUTION FOR A PERIOD OF
MORE THAN ONE YEAR IS REMOVED FROM THE ELECTIVE OFFICE
EFFECTIVE UPON CONVICTION IN THE TRIAL COURT AND
NOTWITHSTANDING ANY APPEAL WHICH MAY BE TAKEN.]]

OR OF A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION WHO DURING HIS TERM OF
