enacted by Chapter 11 (S.B. 133) of the 1974 Regular
Session of the General Assembly) be and they are hereby
repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
Article — Estates and Trusts
2-107.
(a) [Of the three persons elected as judges of the
Court in each county except Montgomery County,] EXCEPT IN
HARFORD AND MONTGOMERY [[COUNTY]] COUNTIES, the governor
shall designate and commission one OF THE THREE
[[ELECTED]] JUDGES OF THE COURT IN EACH COUNTY as chief
judge of the Court. Full power and authority are vested
in each judge designated and commissioned as chief judge
to act as chief judge. Any writ and other process tested
in the name of the chief judge is valid for any purpose.
(b) A reference in the estates of decedents law to
the chief judge of the court of a county means, with
regard to HARFORD OR Montgomery County, the judge of the
circuit court [[for Montgomery County]] then sitting as
the Orphans' Court [[for Montgomery County]]. A
reference to the judges of the court in plural number
means, with respect to HARFORD OR Montgomery County, the
judge of the circuit court [[for Montgomery County]] then
sitting as the Orphans' Court ([for Montgomery County]],
unless the section otherwise specifically provides.
[[SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Section 2—107(c) be and it is hereby added to Article —
Estates and Trusts, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (As
enacted by Chapter 11 (S.B. 133) of the 1974 Regular
Session of the General Assembly) to read as follows:

(C) A REFERENCE IN THE ESTATES OF DECEDENTS LAM TO
THE CHIEF JUDGE OF THE COURT OF A COUNTY MEANS, WITH
REGARD TO HARFORD COUNTY, THE JUDGE OF THE CIRCUIT COURT
FOR HARFORD COUNTY THEN SITTING AS THE ORPHANS' COURT FOR
HARFORD COUNTY. A REFERENCE TO THE JUDGES OF THE COURT
IN PLURAL NUMBER MEANS, WITH RESPECT TO HARFORD COUNTY,
THE JUDGE OF THE CIRCUIT COURT FOR HARFORD COUNTY THEN
SITTING AS THE ORPHANS' COURT FOR HARFORD COUNTY, UNLESS
THE SECTION OTHERWISE SPECIFICALLY PROVIDES.]]
SECTION [[3]] 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That
this Act shall take effect [[July 1]] November 5, 1974.
