and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Article 10 — Attorneys at law and Attorneys in Fact
40.
(h) In Cecil County,
(1) the State's Attorney's salary is [eighteen
thousand five hundred dollars ($18,500) per annum]
$18,500 A YEAR AND [who] HE [shall] MAY serve [full] PART
time. In addition to the compensation provided for in
this section, the State's Attorney, for the operation of
his office and the performance of his duties, shall be
entitled to a reasonable expense allowance which shall be
subject to the approval of the Board of County
Commissioners.
(2) The State's Attorney may appoint [two] FOUR
assistant State's attorneys to serve PART TIME at the
pleasure of the State's Attorney. The first assistant
State's attorney's salary is [seven thousand five hundred
dollars ($7,500) per annum] $7,500 A YEAR and the
[second] REMAINING THREE assistant State's [attorney's]
ATTORNEYS' salary is [six thousand five hundred dollars
($6,500) per annum] $6,500 A YEAR EACH.
(3) THE ASSISTANT STATE'S ATTORNEYS SHALL HAVE THE
SAME LEGAL POWERS AS THE STATE'S ATTORNEY TO REPRESENT
THE STATE BEFORE GRAND JURIES AND IN THE TRIAL OF
CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS.
(4) THE STATE'S ATTORNEY'S APPROPRIATION FOR
SPECIAL WORK AND THE EMPLOYMENT OF EXTRA HELP IS $500, TO
BE SPENT ONLY WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE JUDGE OF THE
CIRCUIT COURT.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect January 1, 1975.
