Supplement), the Board of Public Works is authorized to
select the Maryland Historical Trust as the agency
designated to control and operate Carvel Hall Hotel
and/or the Paca House and for such purposes the title may
be transferred to said Maryland Historical Trust.

14B.

(a)   The Board of Public Works, acting pursuant to a
formal request by the Maryland Historical Trust, may
acquire part or all of any property and premises which in
the judgment of the Maryland Historical Trust is an
historic landmark worthy of public care and preservation,
by purchase or gift under the procedures in Title 12 of
THE REAL PROPERTY Article [21] of [this] THE Code with
any funds available for this purpose from time to time.

(b)      The acquisition may be by purchase, gift,
exchange, or condemnation under the procedures in Title
12 of THE REAL PROPERTY Article [21] of [this] THE Code,
with any funds available for the purpose from time to
time.

SECTION 11. AMD BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That
Sections 7(b), 8A(a), 10, 18, 19, 22A(b), 125(b), 146(b)
and 238, of Article 89B - State Roads, of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume and 1973
Supplement) be and they are hereby repealed and
re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(b) The Administration may acquire for the State of
Maryland by agreement, gift, grant, purchase or
condemnation proceedings as prescribed by the provisions
of Title 12 of THE REAL PROPERTY Article [21] of [this]
THE Code, any private property, rights or easements, for
public purpose, that may be, in its judgment desirable or
necessary to perform the duties imposed by this article,
provided that the authority and function vested in the
State Roads Commission by Article III, §40B of the
Maryland Constitution shall be performed by said
Commission,.

8A.

(a) In order to prevent further loss of gasoline tax
revenue caused by the failure of a substantial number of
motorists to use U.S. Route 40 between Hancock and the
Pennsylvania line and in order to promote and enhance the
