AN ACT concerning

Carroll County — School Board

FOR the purpose of making the Carroll County
Commissioners ex officio members of the Board of
Education of Carroll County.

BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments.

Article 77 — Education

Section 35B(a) (1)

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 35B(a) (1) of Article 77
Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969
Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 77 — Education
35B.

(a) (1) After January 1, 1977, the Board of
Education of Carroll County shall be composed of five
members. The offices held by incumbent members of the
Board of Education of Carroll County originally appointed
by the Governor shall continue until January 1, 1977, and
thereafter are abolished. However, the incumbents
exercising the functions and duties thereof on that date
shall hold office under the provisions of this section as
interim incumbents of the offices herein provided to
serve for such terms as herein specified and until their
respective successors shall have been elected and
qualified. THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF CARROLL COUNTY
SHALL BE EX OFFICIO MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.
