Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 2-302(b), (c) , and (e) of Article
- Agriculture, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1974
Volume) be and it is hereby repealed and re—enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

Article —Agriculture

2-302.

(b)    The Board has ([[five]] SEVEN members [who:

(1)  Are licensed and registered veterinarians of the
State;

(2)  Are residents of the State;

(3)   Have engaged in active practice for five years
at some time;

(4)  Are in good standing; and

(5)  Are appointed and qualified. ]

[[, TWO OF WHOM ARE PUBLIC MEMBERS WHO ARE RESIDENTS OF
THE STATE AND [[NEED]] SHALL NOT BE VETERINARY
PRACTITIONERS AND [[THREE]] FIVE OF WHOM ARE VETERINARY
PRACTITIONERS WHO ARE RESIDENTS OF AND LICENSED BY THE
STATE, HAVE ENGAGED IN ACTIVE PRACTICE FOR FIVE YEARS AT
SOME TIME, AND ARE IN GOOD STANDING.]] who:

(1)

Are

licensed

and

registered

veterinarians of the state;

(2)    Are residents of the state;

(3)    Have engaged in active practice for five
years at some time;

(4)    Are in good standing; and

(5)    Are appointed and qualified.

(c) (1) The Governor shall appoint the members of
the board upon the recommendation of the Secretary. Each
appointment shall be made from a list of at least three
names for each vacancy submitted to the Governor, or to
the Governor—elect, by the Maryland Veterinary Medical
Association.

(2) Recommendations shall be by vote of a majority
present at a regular or special meeting of the
association membership and the president or secretary of
the association shall certify the recommendations to the
