may only be given to members who were teachers when
entering military service;]] providing for military
service credit, not to exceed five years, to any

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section [[194(2) of Article 77 - Public
Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969
Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article 77 — Public Education

(2) The board of trustees shall fix and determine
by appropriate rules and regulations how much service in
any year is equivalent to one year of service, but except
as otherwise provided, in no case shall more than one
year of service be creditable for all service in one
calendar year. The board of trustees, under [such] THE
