SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 14 of Article 45 - Husband and
wife, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement
Volume and 1973 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed
and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

Article 45 — Husband and Wife
14.

No [husband] PERSON shall be liable in any manner
for any debts of [his wife] THE PERSON'S SPOUSE
contracted or for any claims or demands of any kind
against [her] THE SPOUSE arising prior to marriage, but
[she and her] EACH DEBTOR SPOUSE AND THAT DEBTOR SPOUSE'S
property shall remain liable therefor in the same manner
as if the marriage had not taken place.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.

FOR the purpose of eliminating references to a particular
sex in the section regarding a spouse bringing a
personal action to recover in the right of his or
her spouse after the death of a spouse and
correcting language therein.
