6-105.1.

Any student 15 years of age or older enrolled in [a
high school] AN APPROVED course in driver education and
training may operate a [dual control] motor vehicle ON
THE PUBLIC HIGHWAYS OF THIS STATE EQUIPPED WITH A DUAL
BRAKE CONTROL AND OTHER EQUIPMENT AS MAY BE SPECIFIED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH REGULATIONS ADOPTED PURSUANT TO SECTION
6—704 OF THIS ARTICLE without obtaining an instruction
and examination license, when such student is under
[instruction and accompanied by] CONTROL OF a qualified
driver training instructor of said course, OR BY A
QUALIFIED STUDENT INSTRUCTOR PARTICIPATING IN AN
INSTRUCTOR PREPARATION PROGRAM SANCTIONED BY THE STATE
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. [Any instructor must be at least
18 years of age and must have had at least two years'
driving experience, and a valid Maryland driver's
license. ]

The [Commissioner of Motor Vehicles] ADMINISTRATOR
may accept a certificate as proof of such applicant's
knowledge of the traffic laws of the State without
further examination as to such knowledge.

6-111.1.

(a) A fee of [eight dollars ($8.00)] TEN DOLLARS
shall be paid to the [Department] ADMINISTRATION at the
time an application is submitted to the [Department]
ADMINISTRATION for an original license. [Four dollars
($4.00) of said fee shall go into a special fund in the
State treasury known as the Driver Education Fund, which
money shall be accumulated until expended as provided in
this section. Out of such funds from and after July 1,
1962, the Department of Education shall provide for
driver education for public high school students in the
various counties and Baltimore City* The Department of
Education shall apportion the revenues in the fund to the
various subdivisions on the basis of the number of
students enrolled in the driver training program in the
respective subdivisions. The balance of said funds shall
not revert to the general treasury, but shall be
dedicated and held for driver education.]

(d) A fee of [eight dollars ($8.00)] TEN DOLLARS
shall be paid for the renewal and conversion of a license
to either Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D or Class E
if the applicant cannot provide acceptable evidence of
experience in operating a vehicle in the class for which
application for a license is made. [Four dollars ($4.00)
of said fee shall go to the special fund as provided for
in subsection (a) of this section.]
