of [such] THE town, and if on the public roads of St.
Mary's County, then under the direction and supervision
of the County Commissioners or the AUTHORIZED road
supervisor of any district [who may be authorized by the
County Commissioners to work same, and the]. THE labor
performed by [such] prisoners may include every service
necessary for the purpose of draining, grading, shelling,
paving or repairing [such] public streets or other
highways of St. Mary's County [within or without the
limits of an incorporated town therein].

If any officer or other person having [such] ANY
prisoner in charge for the performance of [such] THIS
work or labor, [connive at] knowingly or by his wilful
neglect, [permit] PERMITS the escape of any [such]
prisoner, he [shall be] IS guilty of a misdemeanor and

[the Circuit Court] A COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION for
St. Mary's county, SHALL be fined not less than twenty

omission designated as a misdemeanor in this sub-title [,
unless otherwise provided,] shall be punishable by [any
trial magistrate or the Circuit Court of the county
within which such offense is committed, and the offender
shall, upon conviction,] A COURT OF COMPETENT
JURISDICTION AND be subject to a fine of not [exceeding
one hundred dollars ($100.00) ] MORE THAN $100 or to
confinement for not more than [thirty (30) ] 30 days in
the county jail, or both[, in the discretion of the
magistrate or Circuit Court], Where [such costs] THIS
ACT or omission is of a continuing nature and [is
persisted in] PERSISTS in violation of the provisions of
this sub—title or of any rule or regulation formulated
[thereunder] UNDER THIS SUB—TITLE, a conviction for one
offense shall not be a bar to [the] A conviction for a

first or any succeeding conviction.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Sections
5, 6, 88, 89, 90, 91 and 151(c), (d), (e) and (f) of the
Public Local Laws of St. Mary's County being Article 19
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1965
Edition and 1973 Supplement) be and they are hereby
repealed.

SECTION 3. AN BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Section 151(c) be and it is hereby added to the Public
Local Laws of St. Mary's County being Article 19 of the
