AN ACT concerning
Montgomery County — Unlawful Real Estate Practices
FOR the purpose of making it unlawful in Montgomery
County for real estate salesmen, agents or brokers
to engage in certain practices on the basis of race,
color, religion, sex, marital status, or national
origin, to provide that the Maryland Real Estate
Commission shall enforce the provisions of the law,
requiring brokers in Montgomery County to keep
certain records which must be disclosed to
prospective buyers upon request, relating generally
to real estate practices in Montgomery County, and
providing for a criminal penalty for violations of
this section.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 230E be and it is hereby added
to Article 56 — Licenses, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) to
read as follows:
Article 56 — Licenses
230E.
(A) THE PURPOSE OF THIS SECTION IS TO PROVIDE FOR
FAIR AND EQUAL REAL ESTATE HOUSING PRACTICES AND
OPPORTUNITIES IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY FOR ALL ITS CITIZENS,
REGARDLESS OF RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, SEX, MARITAL STATUS,
OR NATIONAL ORIGIN, AND TO THAT END TO PROHIBIT CERTAIN
DISCRIMINATORY REAL ESTATE PRACTICES WITH RESPECT TO
HOUSING IN ORDER THAT THE PEACE, HEALTH, SAFETY,
PROSPERITY AND GENERAL WELFARE OF ALL OF THE CITIZENS OF
THE COUNTY MAY BE PROTECTED AND INSURED. THIS SECTION
SHALL BE ENFORCED BY THE MARYLAND REAL ESTATE COMMISSION.
(B) IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY EACH BROKER SHALL
MAINTAIN A CURRENT AND COMPLETE REGISTRY OF ALL
RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES WHICH HE PERSONALLY LISTS FOR SALE
