Article 25 — County Commissioners

Section 51(c)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1973 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 2-309(f) of Article - Courts and
Judicial Proceedings, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1973 Volume) be and it is hereby repealed and
re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

2-309.

(f) (1) The Sheriff of Calvert County shall
receive a salary of $7,000 and $2,500 for all expenses.
He may appoint not more than four deputy sheriffs who
serve at his pleasure. Each deputy sheriff shall receive
a salary of $6,000 and an allowance of $2,500 for
expenses. Deputy sheriffs shall be between 22 and 48
years of age when appointed, and within six months of
their appointment, shall take a Maryland State Police
Training Course, of not less than two weeks duration, and
thereafter take a refresher training course annually. In
addition to their salaries the sheriff and deputies shall
be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred for trips
outside Calvert County not to exceed $15 per trip. There
shall be no honorary deputy sheriffs of Calvert County
and no one is authorized to carry badges, certificates or
other materials for the purpose of identifying himself as
an honorary deputy Sheriff.

(2) ANY SHERIFF ([OR TREASURER]] OF CALVERT
COUNTY WHO, SINCE 1948, HAS SERVED FOR [[FOUR]] THREE OR
MORE TERMS SHALL RECEIVE A PENSION WHEN HE LEAVES OFFICE
IN THE ANNUAL AMOUNT OF $150 FOR EACH YEAR [[IN WHICH
HE]] SERVED [[AS SHERIFF OF CALVERT COUNTY]]. THIS
PENSION SHALL BE PAID NOT LESS FREQUENTLY THAN ONCE A
MONTH.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section
51(c) of Article 25 — County Commissioners, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1973 Replacement Volume and
l973 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed and
re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows;
