(House Bill 725)
AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Duplicate License

FOR the purpose of requiring a person whose license is
lost, mutilated or destroyed to immediately apply
for a duplicate license and defining mutilated.

BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments.

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws

Section 6-114(a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1970 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 6-114(a) of Article 66 1/2 -
Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970
Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws
6-114.

(a) If a license issued under the provisions of
this subtitle is mutilated, lost, or destroyed, the
person to whom it was issued [upon] SHALL HAKE IMMEDIATE
APPLICATION FOR A DUPLICATE OF THE LICENSE AND MAY OBTAIN
IT AFTER furnishing proof satisfactory to the Department
that the license has been mutilated, lost, or destroyed,
[shall obtain a duplicate or substitute thereof upon
payment of] AND AFTER PAYING the required fee. FOR THE
PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION MUTILATED MEANS ANY IMPERFECTION
OF OR IN A LICENSE, AFTER ITS ISSUANCE IN A PERFECT
STATE, WHICH RENDERS IT UNSUITABLE FOR IDENTIFICATION
PURPOSES OR FOR VERIFYING ITS AUTHENTICITY AND VALIDITY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.
