AN ACT concerning
Charles County — Board of Education
FOR the purpose of providing a primary election for
candidates for positions on the Charles County Board
of Education and for the certification of those
candidates; generally relating to a primary election
for candidates for the Charles County Board of
Education, adding numbering as appropriate, and
clarifying the language therein.
BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 35A (b) and (c) of Article 77 -
Public Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969
Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) be and they are
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article 77 — Public Education
35A.
(b) At the general election in the month of
November, 1970, and at the general election each four
years thereafter seven persons shall be elected in
Charles County to comprise the county Board of Education
of Charles County. They shall be elected on a
nonpartisan basis, and no party labels or party
identification shall be shown or displayed with respect
to candidates for these positions on the ballots or
ballot labels FOR EITHER THE PRIMARY OR GENERAL ELECTION.
(c) (1) Nomination for membership on the Charles
County Board of Education shall be by petition signed by
at least [two hundred (200) ] 200 voters from the county.
Each petition shall be filed with the board of
supervisors of elections of Charles County not later than
[[midnight]] 9 P.M. on the Monday which is ten weeks or
[seventy] 70 days before the day on which the [general
election is held; except that in the year 1970 the
petition shall be filed not later than midnight on the
day of September 25, 1970] PRIMARY ELECTION FOR THE
POLITICAL PARTIES IS HELD. Each petition shall conform
