(E) IF THE COMPTROLLER OR HIS AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE HAS SUBSTANTIAL REASON TO [[BELIEVES]]
BELIEVE THAT THE ASSESSMENT OR COLLECTION OF A TAX OR
DEFICIENCY FOR ANY YEAR, CURRENT OR PAST, WILL BE
JEOPARDIZED BY DELAY, BECAUSE OF THE REMOVAL OF THE
TAXPAYER FROM THE STATE HE [[SHALL]] MAY, ANYTHING IN
THIS SUBTITLE TO THE CONTRARY NOTWITHSTANDING,
IMMEDIATELY ASSESS SUCH TAX OR DEFICIENCY (TOGETHER WITH
ALL INTEREST AND PENALTIES PROVIDED FOR BY LAW), AND
NOTICE AND DEMAND SHALL BE HADE BY THE COMPTROLLER FOR
THE PAYMENT THEREOF.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.

AN ACT concerning
Maryland Environmental Trust — Director and Employees
FOR the purpose of making the director and staff of the
Maryland Environmental Trust employees of the State,
[[but not members]] specifying that the director
shall not be a member of the classified service, and
providing that the trustees may remove only the
director at will.
BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments.
