SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 12-205(b) and 12-210 of Article
66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1970 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) be and they
are hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws
12-205.

(b) Every reflector shall be mounted on the vehicle
at a height not less than [20] 15 inches nor more than 60
inches measured as set forth in Section 12—202(b), and
shall be of such size and characteristics and so mounted
as to be visible at night from all distances within [350]
600 feet to 100 feet from the vehicle when directly in
front of lawful upper beams of head lamps, except that
visibility from a greater distance is hereinafter
required of reflectors on certain types of vehicles.
When two reflectors are required they shall be as widely
spaced laterally as practicable.

12-210.

(a)   Reflectors when required by Section 12—208
shall be mounted at a height not less than [24] 15 inches
and not higher than 60 inches above the ground on which
the vehicle stands, except that if the highest part of
the permanent structure of the vehicle is less than [24]
15 inches the reflector at that point shall be mounted as
high as that part of the permanent structure will permit.

(b)   The rear reflectors on a pole trailer may be
mounted on each side of the bolster or load.

(c)    Any required red reflector on the rear of a
vehicle may be incorporated with the tail lamp, but the
reflector shall meet all the other reflector requirements
of this subtitle.

(d)    Clearance lamps shall be mounted [on the
permanent structure of the vehicle in a manner to
indicate its extreme width and as near the top thereof as
practicable. Clearance lamps and side marker lamps may
be mounted in combination provided illumination is given
as required herein with reference to both.] SO AS TO
INDICATE THE EXTREME WIDTH OF THE MOTOR VEHICLE, NOT
INCLUDING MIRRORS, AND AS NEAR THE TOP THEREOF AS
PRACTICABLE. WHEN REAR IDENTIFICATION LAMPS ARE MOUNTED
AT THE EXTREME HEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE, REAR CLEARANCE
LAMPS MAY BE MOUNTED AT AN OPTIONAL HEIGHT. WHEN
MOUNTING OF FRONT CLEARANCE LAMPS AT THE HIGHEST POINT OF
A TRAILER RESULTS IN THOSE LAMPS FAILING TO MARK THE
