Annotated Code of Maryland

(1969 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 178 through 183, to be under the
new subtitle "Fine Prints", be and it is hereby added to
Article 83 - Sales and Notices, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) to
read as follows:

Article 83 — Sales and Notices

FINE PRINTS
178.

(A)    IN THIS SUBTITLE, THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE
MEANINGS INDICATED.

(B)    "FINE PRINT" INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO,
AN ENGRAVING, ETCHING, WOODCUT, LITHOGRAPH OR SERIGRAPH.

(C)    "PLATE" IS USED IN LIEU OF AND TO MEAN     THE
FULL PHRASE "PLATE, STONE, BLOCK OR OTHER MATERIAL"   USED
FOR THE PURPOSE OF CREATING THE PRINT FROM WHICH     THE
IMPRESSION OR IMPRESSIONS WERE TAKEN.

(D)    "ARTIST" MEANS THE PERSON WHO CONCEIVED OR
CREATED OR CONCEIVED AND CREATED THE MASTER IMAGE FOR, OR
WHICH IMAGE SERVED AS A MODEL FOR, THE PRINT.

(E)    WHETHER A PRINT IS "SIGNED" OR "UNSIGNED" AS
THESE TERMS ARE USED IN THIS SUBTITLE, DEPENDS UPON
WHETHER OR NOT THE ARTIST AUTOGRAPHS THE FINISHED PRINT,
IRRESPECTIVE OF WHETHER IT WAS SIGNED OR UNSIGNED IN THE
PLATE.

(F)    "IMPRESSION11 MEANS THE PRINTED IMAGE ON
SUITABLE MATERIAL, WHETHER PAPER OR ANY OTHER SUBSTANCE,
MADE OFF THE PLATE BY PRINTING, STAMPING, CASTING OR ANY
OTHER PROCESS COMMONLY USED IN THE GRAPHIC ARTS.

(A) NO CATALOGUE, PROSPECTUS OR CIRCULAR OFFERING
FINE PRINTS FOR SALS SHALL BE KNOWINGLY PUBLISHED OR
DISTRIBUTED UNLESS IT CLEARLY AND CONSPICUOUSLY DISCLOSES
THE RELEVANT INFORMATIONAL DETAIL, CONCERNING EACH
EDITION OF THE PRINTS SO OFFERED, SET FORTH IN SECTION
