Senate Bill 544, which was enacted by the General Assembly and signed
by me on April 26, 1973, accomplishes the same purposes as House Bill 403.

Therefore, it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill 403.

House Bill No. 403—By Delegates B. W. Donovan, Dorman, Hagner, Menes,
Miller, Redding, Ruben, Rummage, Ross, Rymer, Sullivan and Wolfgang:

An Act to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 22(a) and
23(a) of Article 88B of the Annotated Code of Maryland ([[1969 Replace-
ment Volume and]] 1972 Supplement), title "State Police," subtitle "Police
and Civilian Employees," to change the salaries of police and civilian
employees of the State police.

Shall the bill pass notwithstanding the objections of the Executive?
The Speaker announced the veto was sustained by roll call.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the Maryland Constitution,
I have today vetoed House Bill 424.

This bill establishes acceptable forms of acknowledgement and repeals
subsection (d) and (e) of Section 6G of Article 33A of the Annotated Code
of Maryland.

Senate Bill 431, which was enacted by the General Assembly and signed
by me on April 26, 1973 accomplishes the same purpose as House Bill 424
by establishing acceptable forms of acknowledgement.
