SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the provisions of this
Act shall not be construed to extend or apply to the State's Attorney in office on
the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act shall take effect with
the next term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 443
(Senate Bill 859)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 352 of Article 43 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health,"
subtitle "Funeral Directors and Embalmers"; to provide that any discharged
veteran of the United States Armed Forces, and who has been duly registered as
an embalmer in another state for a period of five years be exempt from the
Maryland embalming examination.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 352 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle "Funeral Directors
and Embalmers," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

352.

(a)   Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary in this subtitle an honorably
discharged veteran of THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES
[World War II] who is a graduate of a recognized college of embalming and who
has held a license and who has actually engaged in the practice of funeral directing
and embalming in another state for a period of five years, and who has practiced
in this State as a duly registered apprentice funeral director and embalmer for one
year is entitled to be licensed to practice the occupation of funeral director and
embalmer in Maryland without the necessity of taking an examination.

(b)    A licensee under this subtitle who is inducted into the armed forces of the
United States for a temporary period and on any basis other than a career basis is
exempt from the requirement for securing an annual renewal of his license during
the period of such induction and service.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
