effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 59
(House Bill 569)
AN ACT to repeal Sections 28 to 49, inclusive, of Article 89 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title
"Division of Labor and Industry." subtitle "Occupational Safety," and to enact
new Sections 28 to [[47]] 49A, in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the
sections repealed, to assure safe and healthful working conditions for the
citizens of the State of Maryland by providing for the establishment of safety
and health standards, procedures for enforcement of and compliance with such
standards, and penalties for violation thereof: to provide for research,
information, education, and training in the field of occupational safety and
health; to empower the Commissioner of Labor and Industry to administer,
enforce, and coordinate the occupational safety and health program as
developed within this Act; to create an Occupational Safety and Health
Advisory Board to recommend standards, rules, and regulations to the
Commissioner: and relating generally to occupational safety and health.
