AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 11 (18) (b) of Article
73B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Supplement), title "Pensions,"
subtitle "In General," to provide that the Governor's retirement and pension be
applicable to both sexes.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 11 (18) (b) of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Supplement), title "Pensions," subtitle "In General," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

11(18).

(b) The [widow] SURVIVING SPOUSE of any former governor shall receive
[[a spouse's]] AN allowance which is equal to one half the retirement allowance
or pension which the former governor would have been entitled to receive from
time to time.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 208 of Article 77 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title "Public
Education," subtitle "Teachers' Retirement System," to eliminate references to
a particular sex and to correct language in the Teachers' Retirement System
Law.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 208 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title "Public Education," subtitle
"Teachers' Retirement System," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
