(Senate Bill 272)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 9(11) of Article 73B of
the Annotated Code of Maryland ([[1970 Replacement Volume and]] 1972
Supplement), title "Pensions," subtitle "In General," to permit any person who
was in the employ of the Division of Employment Service while the Service was
an agency of the United States Government to receive retirement credit in the
Teachers' Retirement system of Maryland.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 9(11) of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland ([[1970 Replacement Volume and]] 1972 Supplement), title
"Pensions," subtitle "In General," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

(11) Any person who was in the employ of the Division of Employment Service
while the service and its personnel were under the control of the United States
employment service shall receive retirement credit in the Employees' Retirement
System OR THE TEACHERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM of the State of
Maryland upon payment of his share of contributions for the period of his federal
service, together with interest to date of payment.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 378
(Senate Bill 286)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 22(a) of Article 16A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1972
Interim Supplement), title "Civil Defense," subtitle "Civil Relief," subheading
"Rent, Installment Contracts and Mortgages," to provide that eviction and
distress provisions for civil defense service, injury or damage be applicable to
both sexes.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 22(a) of Article 16A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1972 Interim Supplement), title "Civil
Defense," subtitle "Civil Relief," subheading "Rent, Installment Contracts and
Mortgages," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
22.
(a) No eviction or distress shall be made during the period of being a person in
civil defense service or a person suffering injury or damage in respect of any
premises for which the agreed rent does not exceed $150 per month, occupied
chiefly for dwelling purposes by the [wife] SPOUSE, children, or other dependents
of a person in civil defense service or a person suffering injury or damage, except
