70                                       LAWS OF MARYLAND                               Ch. 51

PUBLIC FUNCTION CONDUCTED BY, OR UNDER THE AUSPICES OF,
ANY VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY. Such powers may be exercised in
incorporated cities, or towns, but only under the discretion and control of the chief
of the police force of the city or town. ALL FIRE POLICE, WHEN ON SUCH
DUTY, AND WHEN WEARING A BADGE OF AUTHORITY, SHALL BE
DEEMED TO BE PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF THEIR OFFICE.

AT NO TIME SHALL ANY FIRE POLICE USE ANY WEAPON IN THE
PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES AS DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION.

ANY DULY AUTHORIZED FIRE POLICE PERFORMING HIS DUTIES
IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION TO WHICH A FIRE COMPANY OR
AMBULANCE COMPANY HAS BEEN DISPATCHED BY THE
FREDERICK COUNTY CENTRAL ALARM BOARD, SHALL BE SUBJECT
TO THE AUTHORITY OF THE OFFICER IN CHARGE OF SUCH FIRE
COMPANY OR AMBULANCE COMPANY, AND IF THE FIRE POLICE IS
NOT A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING OF SUCH FIRE COMPANY OR
AMBULANCE COMPANY, THEN HE MAY NOT PERFORM HIS DUTIES
AS DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION. ANY DULY AUTHORIZED FIRE
POLICE PERFORMING HIS DUTIES AT ANY PUBLIC FUNCTION
CONDUCTED BY, OR UNDER THE AUSPICES OF, A FIRE COMPANY
OR AMBULANCE COMPANY, SHALL BE SUBJECT TO THE
AUTHORITY OF THE OFFICER IN CHARGE OF SUCH COMPANY.

THE SHERIFF OF THE COUNTY MAY REQUIRE ANY FIRE POLICE
TO DEMONSTRATE A SATISFACTORY LEVEL OF TRAINING IN
THOSE AREAS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMENSURATE WITH
THE DUTIES OF THE FIRE POLICE AS DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION.
IF THE SHERIFF OF THE COUNTY SHALL REQUIRE A
DEMONSTRATION OF A SATISFACTORY LEVEL OF TRAINING, THEN
THE TRAINING SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE SHERIFF OF THE
COUNTY, AT A TIME AND PLACE AS HE SHALL DEEM SUITABLE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 52
(House Bill 1127)

AN ACT to add new Section 10(e) to Article 36 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title "Fees of
Officers," subtitle "Attorneys," to follow immediately after Section 10(d)
thereof, to provide that appearance fees collected according to Section 10(a) of
Article 36, be used for the general purpose of the bar library of Talbot County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 10(e) be and it is hereby added to Article 36 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1972
Supplement), title "Fees of Officers," subtitle "Attorneys," to follow immediately
after Section 10(d) thereof, and to read as follows:
