CHAPTER 253
(Senate Bill 864)

AN ACT to add new Section 77C to Article 41 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Governor - Executive and
Administrative Departments," subtitle "Maryland Dog," to follow immediately
after Section 77B thereof and to be under the new subtitle "Maryland State
Insect," to provide for the Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly to be the official
arthropodic emblem of the State of Maryland.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 77C be and it is hereby added to Article 41 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Governor
-Executive and Administrative Departments," subtitle "Maryland Dog," to follow
immediately after Section 77B thereof and to be under the new subtitle "Maryland
State Insect," and to read as follows:

MARYLAND STATE INSECT

77C.

THE BALTIMORE CHECKERSPOT BUTTERFLY OR EUPHYDRYAS
PHAETON IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE THE OFFICIAL
ARTHROPODIC EMBLEM OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to repeal Section 4(f) of Article 78D of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title "Regional
Planning Council," subtitle "Establishment and Organization," and to enact a
new Section 4(f) in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section repealed, to
correct the membership of the Regional Planning Council by properly
designating certain members of the said Council in accordance with their offices
as constituted by State law.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 4(f) of Article 78D of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title "Regional
Planning Council," subtitle "Establishment and Organization," be and it is hereby
repealed, and that new Section 4(f) be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to
stand in the place of the section repealed, and to read as follows:
