(IV) IF A DIFFERENT PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF ANY
PROVISION OF THIS ARTICLE IS PROVIDED FOR IN THIS ARTICLE
OR IN ANY OTHER LAW OF THIS STATE, THE SPECIFIC PENALTY
SHALL PREVAIL OVER THE PENALTY PROVIDED FOR IN THIS
SECTION.

[(c) Unless another penalty is in this article or by the laws of this State
provided, every person convicted of a misdemeanor for the violation of any other
provision of this Article shall be punished by a fine of not more than $500 or by
imprisonment for not more than 2 months, or by both fine and imprisonment.]

17-102. FINES

IN ANY CASE WHERE A FINE HAS BEEN IMPOSED UNDER THIS
ARTICLE AND THE PERSON FINED HAS NOT MADE PAYMENT OF
THE FINE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE COURT'S DIRECTIVE, THE
COURT MAY SO CERTIFY TO THE MOTOR VEHICLE
ADMINISTRATION AND UPON SUCH CERTIFICATION THE
ADMINISTRATION SHALL [[SUSPEND]] NOT RENEW THE DRIVER'S
LICENSE UNTIL THE FINE HAS BEEN PAID. THE ADMINISTRATION
WITH THE COOPERATION OF THE DISTRICT COURT SHALL
DEVELOP PROCEDURES TO CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
SECTION.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That if any provision of
this Act or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid for
any reason, the invalidity shall not affect the other provisions or any other
application of this Act which can be given effect without the invalid provisions or
application, and to this end all the provisions of this Act are declared to be
severable.

CHAPTER 208
(Senate Bill 5)

AN ACT to add new Section 155A to Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle "State Board of
Veterinary Examiners," to follow immediately after Section 155 thereof, to
provide that the Board of Veterinary Examiners shall issue permits to humane
societies or. county or municipal designated animal shelters for the use of
sodium pentobarbital [; and], relating to securing these permits and to the use of
the sodium pentobarbital [.] designating upon the permit a responsible official,
and exempting any organization receiving a permit pursuant to this section from
the registration requirement of Section 281 of Article 27.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 155A be and it is hereby added to Article 43 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health,"
subtitle "State Board of Veterinary Examiners," to follow immediately after
Section 155 thereof, and to read as follows:
