the General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 95B of Article 2B of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume and 1972
Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Hours and Days for Sale,"
to provide for the sale of all alcoholic beverages in Cecil County on Sundays at
certain times, but that certain classes of alcoholic beverages will require a
special sales license for an additional license fee.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 95B of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title "Alcoholic
Beverages," subtitle "Hours and Days for Sale," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
95B.
In Cecil County, notwithstanding any other provisions of this subtitle, the hours
during which sales of any alcoholic beverages may be made under any class of
license issued under this article on any day, Monday through Saturday are from 6
o'clock a.m. daily to 2 o'clock a.m. on the following day. It is unlawful for any
person to sell or for any person to consume any alcoholic beverages on any
premises licensed under this article between the hours of 2 o'clock a.m. and 6
o'clock a.m. on any day of the week or at any time on Sunday after 2 o'clock
a.m., except that it is lawful for Class C "on-sale" (clubs) beer, beer and light
wine, or beer, wine and liquor licensees in Cecil County to permit the [use] SALE
and consumption of alcoholic beverages between the hours of 1 o'clock p.m. and
[7] [[12 o'clock [p.m.] MIDNIGHT]] 10 O'CLOCK P.M. on Sundays and
except as provided in § 89 (1) of this article. IT IS LAWFUL FOR ANY CLASS
A, B, OR D LICENSEES IN CECIL COUNTY TO SELL BEER, WINE, AND
LIQUOR ON SUNDAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 1:00 P.M. AND
[[12:00 O'CLOCK MIDNIGHT]] 10 O'CLOCK P.M., PROVIDED THAT AN
ADDITIONAL LICENSE FEE OF $500.00 SHALL FIRST BE PAID FOR
SUCH PRIVILEGE GRANTED BY THIS SECTION, AND PROVIDED
FURTHER THAT THE ON-SALE PRIVILEGE HEREIN GRANTED
SHALL BE LIMITED TO SUCH ON-SALES BY A RESTAURANT AS
DEFINED IN ARTICLE 2B, § 39(A). THE ON-SALE PRIVILEGE OF
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES PERMITTED BY THIS SECTION SHALL BE
LIMITED TO AND ONLY BE MADE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
SERVICE OF A MEAL, AND PROVIDED FURTHER THAT THE [[COST
OF SAID BEVERAGE SERVED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE MEAL
SHALL NOT EXCEED THE COST OF THE MEAL SERVED
THEREWITH. ]] TOTAL COST OF BEVERAGES CONSUMED WITH THE
MEAL SHALL NOT EXCEED THE COST OF THE MEAL SERVED.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
