AND LOCATED WITHIN ANY FIFTY YEAR FLOOD PLAIN WHICH
ABUTS A CREEK OR OTHER RECESS, COVE, BAY OR INLET IN
THE SHORE OF A RIVER WHICH ARE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED AS
A RESULT OF A FLOOD MAY BE REPAIRED OR RECONSTRUCTED
OR OTHERWISE PLACED IN USABLE CONDITION.

SECTION 2. Emergency Legislation. The Council
hereby declares that an emergency exists and that this
legislation is necessary for the immediate protection
of public health and safety. Therefore, this Act
shall take effect on the date on which it becomes law.

AN ACT to add new Section 86-93A, title "Warning
Notice in Elevators," to Chapter 86, title "Fire
Prevention Code," of the Montgomery County Code
1965, to follow immediately after Section 86—93
thereof, to require that notices he placed in
elevators to warn that elevators shall not be
used in the event of fire.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL
FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 86-93A,
title "Warning Notice in Elevators" be and hereby is
added to Chapter 86, title "Fire Prevention Code," of
the Montgomery County Code 1965, to follow immediately
after Section 86-93 thereof, and to read as follows:

86-93A. WARNING NOTICE IN ELEVATORS.

IN ALL BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES CONTAINING
ELEVATORS, THESE SHALL BE PERMANENTLY AFFIXED WITHIN
ALL ELEVATORS A PROMINENT, PLAINLY MARKED NOTICE
APPROVED BY THE FIRE MARSHAL TO READ:

WARNING

ELEVATORS SHALL NOT BE USED IN THE EVENT OF FIRE, USE
MASKED EXIT STAIRWAYS.
