MONTGOMERY COUNTY

County Executive for submission to the County
Council with all budgets, that recommended
changes shall be leased on, but not be limited to,
when a fire department's recommended budget would
require a tax levy of twenty—one cents or more
per hundred dollars of assessed valuation, when
the construction contract for a new fire station
has been completed within the immediate past
calendar year, when existing tax boundaries have
been affected by changes in property boundary
lines, and when new roads or bridges are opened
or existing roads or bridges are closed within
the immediate past calendar year and thereby a
change in the response distances result, that as
to the Individual Fire Tax Districts the County
Council shall levy a tax on all assessable
property to produce an amount sufficient for
maintaining, equipping and operating the
departments or squads and if the tax rate would
produce less than the amount certified by each
department or squad as necessary a prior public
hearing shall be held and that all budgets shall
be subject to public hearings as provided under
Section 304 of the County Charter and shall be
levied and collected and treated in every respect
as county taxes and be collected by county
authorities and the treasurers upon authorization
of their departments or squads shall pay all
proper costs, expenses, claims and demands
necessary for the maintenance, equipment and
operation of their facilities and any moneys
retained by the Director of Finance shall be
invested in the County's Investment Fund and the
proceeds credited to the appropriate department
or squad, that as to the Consolidated Fire Tax
District the County Council shall appropriate
funds in the amount requested by the Fire Board
unless the Council proposes to reduce any amounts
requested in which event a public hearing shall
be conducted and that all budgets shall be
subject to public hearings as provided under
Section 304 of the County Charter and on or
before May 1 of each year the Council must adopt
legislation reflecting changes, if any, in the
Fire Tax District boundaries which will effect
the following fiscal year's tax levies and the
Council shall levy and collect a uniform tax for
the Consolidated Fire Tax District on all
assessable property located therein which will
produce amounts necessary to meet the
