ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY

and 3-201 of the Anne Arundel County Code (1967
Edition and Supplements), Title 3, "Buildings",
Subtitle 2, "Structural Requirements", be and they are
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

Section 3-200 Adoption of building code.

The "Basic Building Code", [Fourth] FIFTH
Edition, [1965] 1970 and Accumulative Supplement -
[1968] 1971, as published by the Building Official
Conference of America, Inc., is hereby adopted as the
building code for the county for the control of
buildings and structures as herein provided, and each
and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties,
conditions and terms of the "Basic Building Code",
[Fourth] FIFTH Edition, [1965] 1970, and Accumulative
Supplement — [1968] 1971, are hereby referred to,
adopted and made a part hereof, as if fully set out
herein, with the additions, insertions, omissions and
changes prescribed in this subtitle. Nothing in this
section shall be construed to amend, alter, eliminate
or affect any local additions, insertions, omissions,
or changes to the "Basic Building Code" as added or
amended by subsequent enactments and as contained in
this subtitle.

Section 3—201 Building permit — Required.

It shall be unlawful to construct any building or
structure in the county, where the cost of such
construction exceeds one hundred dollars or to
enlarge, alter, remove or demolish or change the
occupancy of a building from one use group to another
requiring greater strength, exit or sanitary
provisions; or to change to a prohibited use; or to
install or alter any equipment for which provision is
made or the installation of which is regulated by the
Basic Building Code, adopted by Section 3—200, without
first filing an application with the building official
in writing and obtaining the required permit therefor,
except that ordinary repairs (including re—roofing) as
defined in Section 102 of the Basic Building Code
which do not involve any violation of the Basic
Building Code shall be exempt from this provision.
THE REMOVAL OR REPLACEMENT OF ANY STRUCTURAL MEMBER
SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED AN ORDINARY REPAIR, SHALL
REQUIRE A PERMIT AND SHALL BE INSPECTED FOR CODE
COMPLIANCE. THE USE OF MATERIAL OF A DIFFERENT NATURE
THAN THAT IN USE IN THE EXISTING STRUCTURE SHALL
