2434                                    MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is hereby
specifically enjoined to carry out the provisions of Section 3 hereof and, as
evidence of said compliance, the Mayor shall cause to be affixed to the minutes of
this meeting appropriate certifications of publication of the newspaper or
newspapers in which the title of this Resolution shall have been published and shall
declare the Charter amendment hereby enacted to be effective by affixing his
signature hereto in the space provided on the effective date thereof.

SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as soon as the
Charter amendment hereby enacted shall become effective, either as herein
provided or following a referendum, the Mayor shall send separately by registered
mail to the Secretary of State of State of Maryland and to the Department of
Legislative Reference of Maryland a clear certified copy of the full text of Sections
29-4 and 29-8 of the Charter of the Mayor and Council of Sharpsburg as amended
hereby, a certified copy of this Resolution showing the number of councilmen
voting for and against it and a report of the votes cast for or against the
amendment hereby enacted at any referendum thereon and the date of such
referendum.

The Charter Amendment enacted by the foregoing Resolution became effective
this 4th day of October, 1972.

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND

COUNCIL OF SHARPSBURG
TO AMEND THE TOWN CHARTER

Resolution of the Mayor and Council of Sharpsburg, adopted pursuant to the
authority of Article 11-E of the Constitution of Maryland and Section 13 of
Article 23-A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition), title
"Corporations - Municipal", sub-title "Home Rule", sub-heading "Charter
Amendments", to add Section 29-26 of the Charter of the Mayor and Council of
Sharpsburg as set forth in Article 22 of Code of Public Local Laws of Washington
County (1957 Edition) to permit contributions to designated Institutions, in
accordance with the provisions of said Article 11-E of the Constitution of
Maryland and Article 23-A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition).

SECTION 1: BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of Sharpsburg
that a new section, to be known as Section 29-26, be added to the Charter of the
Mayor and Council of Sharpsburg, as set forth in Article 22 of Code of Public
Local Laws of Washington County (1957 Edition), be and the same is hereby
created by adding a new Section to the said Charter, which is hereafter
underscored, (Note that the symbology has been changed-Editor,) the Section
reads as follows:

THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF SHARPSBURG IS HEREBY
AUTHORIZED TO CONTRIBUTE ANNUALLY SUCH A SUM OF
MONEY FOR THE CARE, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE
FOLLOWING DESCRIBED INSTITUTIONS AS THEY MAY DEEM
NECESSARY FOR THE CARE, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
