THE BOY SCOUT TROOP 51 OF SHARPSBURG, THE GIRL SCOUT
TROOP 231 OF SHARPSBURG, THE SHARPSBURG PLAYGROUND,
THE ANTIETAM POST 236 AMERICAN LEGION OF SHARPSBURG.
SECTION 2: AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the date of adoption
of this Resolution is the 9th day of August, 1972, and the amendment of the
Charter of Sharpsburg hereby enacted shall become effective September 28, 1972,
unless a proper petition for a referendum hereon shall be filed, as permitted by
law, provided a clear and exact copy of this Resolution shall be continuously
posted on the bulletin board in the Town Hall until September 18, 1972, and
provided further that a copy of the title of this Resolution shall be published in the
Morning Herald and the Daily Mail, newspapers of general circulation of
Sharpsburg, or in any other newspaper of such general circulation, once in each of
the weeks of August 13th, 20th, 27th; September 3,1972.
SECTION 3: AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is hereby
specifically enjoined to carry out the provisions of Section 2 hereof and, as
evidence of said compliance, the Mayor shall cause to be affixed to the minutes of
this meeting appropriate certifications of publication of the newspaper or
newspapers in which the title of this Resolution shall have been published and shall
declare the Charter amendment hereby enacted to be effective by affixing his
signature hereto in the space provided on the effective date thereof.
SECTION 4: AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as soon as the
Charter amendment hereby enacted shall become effective, either as herein
provided or following a referendum, the Mayor shall send separately by registered
mail to the Secretary of State of Maryland and to the Department of Legislative
Reference of Maryland a clear certified copy of the full text of Section 29-26 of
the Charter of the Mayor and Council of Sharpsburg as amended hereby, a
certified copy of this Resolution showing the number of councilmen voting for and
against it and a report of the votes cast for or against the amendment hereby
enacted at any referendum thereon and the date of such referendum.
The Charter Amendment enacted by the foregoing Resolution became effective
this 4th day of October, 1972.
