MOUNT AIRY                                            2321

WHEREAS, The Mayor and Council of the Town of Mount Airy has caused to
be made a verification of the signatures upon said petition and has ascertained that
the persons signing the petition represent at least twenty-five per cent (25%) of the
persons who reside in the area to be annexed and who are registered voters in
county elections in the precinct or precincts in which the territory to be annexed is
located, and are the owners of at least twenty-five percent (25%) of the assessed
valuation of the real property located in the area to be annexed; and

WHEREAS, The Mayor and Council of the Town of Mount Airy, pursuant to
the petition requesting annexation, is introducing this resolution providing that the
present corporate boundaries of the Town of Mount Airy be extended to include
the areas described in the petition; and

WHEREAS, The Mayor and Council of the Town of Mount Airy will cause a
notice of the proposed enlargement of the corporate boundaries of the Town of
Mount Airy to be published not less than four times at weekly intervals in the
Community Reporter, a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Mount
Airy and the area to be annexed, said notice describing the proposed enlargement
and circumstances thereto and specifying the time, date and place at which a
public hearing will be held on the proposed annexation, said public hearing is to be
held on June 12, 1972, at 7:30 P.M. at the Town Hall, Main Street, Mount Airy,
Maryland, the said date being more than fifteen (15) days after the fourth
publication of the notice in the aforementioned newspaper; and

WHEREAS, The Mayor and Council of the Town of Mount Airy deems the
enlargement of the corporate boundaries to be advisable and to be in the public
interest.

SECTION 1. BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of
the Town of Mount Airy that all of the land lying within the boundaries of the
herinafter described parcel shall be annexed to and become a part of the Town of
Mount Airy:

Beginning for the same at a point on the Mt. Airy Town Limits, at concrete
monument number 100, South 13 degrees 28 minutes 01 seconds West 3758.01 feet
to a point, thence for the following thirteen (13) new lines of annexation and
running and binding on the outlines of Leonard Kogan property, South 73 degrees
14 minutes 50 seconds East 1232.20 feet to a point, North 20 degrees 54 minutes
51 seconds East 753.40 feet to a stone found set in the ground, South 63 degrees
35 minutes 09 seconds East 1067.47 feet to a black oak tree, South 31 degrees 01
minutes 14 seconds West 944.18 feet to a fence post found set in the ground,
North 55 degrees 46 minutes 20 seconds West 150.43 feet to a stone found set in
the ground, South 27 degrees 52 minutes 58 seconds West 26.39 feet to a stone
found set in the ground, South 28 degrees 38 minutes 17 seconds West 717.60 feet
to a fence post found set in the ground, North 83 degrees 28 minutes 38 seconds
West 506.20 feet to a point in the centerline of Twin Arch Road, thence running
and binding on said centerline the following five (5) courses and distances, North
62 degrees 05 minutes 26 seconds West 108.48 feet to a point on said centerline,
North 63 degrees 19 minutes 00 seconds West 321.42 feet to a point on said
centerline, North 62 degrees 36 minutes 03 seconds West 108.87 feet to a point on
said centerline, North 61 degrees 51 minutes 32 seconds West 121.01 feet to a
point on said centerline, North 61 degrees 22 minutes 12 seconds West 631.85 feel
to a point on said centerline, and on said Town Boundary Line, South 27 degrees
47 minutes 50 seconds West 390.00 feet to a concrete monument 121 found set in
the ground. Containing 60.802 acres.
