of two years, and a councilman for the first ward and a councilman for the third
ward, each to serve a term of two years, to be voted for by the qualified voters of
their respective wards. Every two years after the first election of officers, the
qualified voters of the Town of Colmar Manor shall elect a Mayor, and at each
successive annual election after the first election, the qualified voters of each ward
in which there is a vacancy shall elect a councilman to serve a term of two years.
All citizens of the United States of the age of twenty-one years or over who have
qualified as voters of the said town as hereinafter in this charter provided shall be
qualified to vote for the election of officers of the said town and at all elections
provided for under this charter. The Mayor must continuously reside in said town
and each councilman in his respective ward during their terms of office. The
Mayor and Councilmen hereunder shall qualify within ten days succeeding their
election by taking an oath before any officer of the State of Maryland duly
authorized to take an affidavit.

All elections for town purposes shall as nearly as practicable be conducted as
are elections for county officers in Prince George's County, except as herein
provided.]

16-5. SAME: TENURE, ELECTIONS, VOTERS. AT THE NEXT
ELECTION OF TOWN OFFICERS TO BE HELD UNDER THIS CHARTER,
HEREBY PROVIDED TO BE HELD ON THE SECOND TUESDAY IN
MAY 1972, AND EVERY TWO YEARS THEREAFTER, THE QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF SAID TOWN SHALL ELECT A COUNCILMAN FOR THE
SECOND WARD AND A COUNCILMAN FOR THE FOURTH WARD,
EACH TO SERVE A TERM OF TWO YEARS, TO BE VOTED FOR BY
THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE WARDS. ON THE
SECOND TUESDAY IN MAY 1973, AND EVERY TWO YEARS
THEREAFTER, THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF COLMAR MANOR SHALL
ELECT A MAYOR TO SERVE A TERM OF TWO YEARS AND A
COUNCILMAN FROM THE FIRST WARD AND A COUNCILMAN FROM
THE THIRD WARD, EACH TO SERVE A TERM OF TWO YEARS, TO BE
VOTED FOR BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE
WARDS. INCUMBENT TOWN OFFICERS SHALL CONTINUE IN
OFFICE UNTIL THEIR SUCCESSORS ARE DULY ELECTED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THIS CHARTER PROVISION. ALL CITIZENS OF
THE UNITED STATES OF THE AGE OF 18 YEARS OR OVER WHO
HAVE QUALIFIED AS VOTERS OF THE SAID TOWN AS
HEREINAFTER IN THIS CHARTER PROVIDED SHALL BE QUALIFIED
TO VOTE FOR THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS OF SAID TOWN AND IN
ALL ELECTIONS PROVIDED FOR UNDER THIS CHARTER. THE
MAYOR MUST CONTINUOUSLY RESIDE IN SAID TOWN AND EACH
COUNCILMAN IN HIS RESPECTIVE WARD DURING THEIR TERMS
OF OFFICE. THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEN HEREUNDER SHALL
QUALIFY WITHIN TEN DAYS SUCCEEDING THEIR ELECTIONS BY
TAKING OATH BEFORE ANY OFFICER OF THE STATE OF
MARYLAND DULY AUTHORIZED TO TAKE AN AFFIDAVIT.

ALL ELECTIONS FOR TOWN PURPOSES SHALL AS NEARLY AS
PRACTICABLE BE CONDUCTED AS AN ELECTION FOR COUNTY
OFFICERS IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, EXCEPT AS HEREIN
PROVIDED.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDAINED that the public notice of
the Amendment shall be published at weekly intervals for four consecutive weeks
in the Prince George's Post beginning February 10, 1972; and that public notice of
the entire Resolution shall be posted in the Office of the Clerk-Treasurer for a
period of forty days from February 1, 1972 to March 12, 1972; and
