EXECUTIVE ORDER OF JANUARY 19, 1971
ASSIGNMENT OF COMMISSIONS

WHEREAS, By Act of the General Assembly, Article 41, Section 3, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume and 1970 Cumulative
Supplement), the Governor of the State of Maryland is authorized to assign
executive and administrative departments, offices, boards, commissions, and
other units of the State Government not constituting one of the principal
departments of State Government, to the authority and jurisdiction of a
principal department; and

WHEREAS, In the interest of governmental efficiency, it is desirable to assign or
to reassign various commissions to certain principal departments;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, MARVIN MANDEL, GOVERNOR OF
MARYLAND, HEREBY PROMULGATE THE FOLLOWING ORDER
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:

1.  The Governor's Commission on the Status of Women is hereby assigned to the

Department of Employment and Social Services;

2.  The Governor's Commission for Children and Youth for the 1970 White House

Conference is hereby assigned to the Department of Employment and Social
Services;

3.  The Maryland Commission for Latin American Affairs is hereby assigned to the

Department of Economic and Community Development;

4.   The Governor's Commission on Migratory Labor is hereby assigned to the

Department of Employment and Social Services;

5.    The Greater Laurel Hospital Authority is hereby assigned to the

Department of Health and Mental Hygiene;

6.  The Governor's Commission to Study Maryland Folklife is hereby assigned to

the Department of Economic and Community Development;

7.  The Governor's Commission on Negro History and Culture is hereby assigned

to the Department of Economic and Community Development.

JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT

WHEREAS, On July 17, 1970, an Executive Order was promulgated establishing
the Governor's Commissions on Trial Court Judicial Selection for the eight
judicial circuits of the State; and
