1972, CHAPTER 367 - Omnibus Constitutional Amendments

STATE ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD OF ELECTION LAWS

ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 23-11 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland, the State Administrative Board of Election Laws does hereby certify
that at the General Election held in the State of Maryland on November 7, 1972,
an Act known as Chapter 367 of the Acts of 1972 was submitted to the voters of
the State of Maryland under the provisions of Article XIV of the Constitution of
the State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:

AN ACT to propose an amendment to Section 1 of Article XIV of the
Constitution of Maryland, title "Amendments to the Constitution," amending the
constitutional provision concerning one subject in an amendment proposed by the
General Assembly in order to make special provision for proposed constitutional
amendments for the purpose of removing or correcting constitutional provisions
which are obsolete, inaccurate, invalid, unconstitutional or duplicative, and
submitting this amendment to the qualified voters of the State for adoption or
rejection.

AND IT IS HEREBY CERTIFIED that at said election, 540,458 votes were
cast for the adoption of said Chapter 367 and 269,994 votes were cast against the
adoption of said Chapter 367, the said Chapter 367 of the Acts of 1972 has
therefore been ratified by the duly qualified voters of the State of Maryland.

of Election Laws of the State of Maryland, Done at the City of Annapolis, this
30th day of November, In the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand, Nine Hundred
and Seventy-two.

1972, CHAPTER 368 - Suffrage for Criminals and Incompetents

STATE ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD OF ELECTION LAWS
ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 23-11 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland, the State Administrative Board of Election Laws does hereby certify
that at the General Election held in the State of Maryland on November 7, 1972,
an Act known as Chapter 368 of the Acts of 1972 was submitted to the voters of
the State of Maryland under the provisions of Article XIV of the Constitution of
the State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:

AN ACT to propose an amendment to Article I of the Constitution of
Maryland, title "Elective Franchise," by repealing Section 2 in its entirety and
enacting a new Section 2 in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section
repealed, revising the constitutional provision concerning the prohibition of the
right to vote under certain circumstances in order to authorize the General
Assembly by law to regulate or prohibit the right to vote of a person convicted of
infamous or other serious crime or under care or guardianship for mental
disability, and providing for the submission of this amendment to the qualified
voters of the State for adoption or rejection.

AND IT IS HEREBY CERTIFIED that at said election, 520,084 votes were
cast for the adoption of said Chapter 368 and 356,726 votes were cast against the
