RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
sincere and hearty commendation of the House of Delegates of Maryland is sent to
the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and First Aid Team for winning 1st
Place in the competition at Virginia Beach, Virginia, on October 6, 1972; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the State of Maryland is directed to send
copies of this resolution to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and First
Aid Team.

HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION requesting appointment by the Governor of a
Commission to investigate and study the existing Child Labor Laws of
Maryland, to determine the necessity of revising the existing Child Labor Laws
and to report thereon to the Governor, the Legislative Council and the General
Assembly.
WHEREAS, The Child Labor Laws have been amended, from time to time,
but there has been no general revision of these laws for many years; and
WHEREAS, It is desirable to have the whole subject re-studied and the laws
revised; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
Governor is requested to name a Commission of [[eleven (11)]] FIFTEEN
(15)members, to serve without compensation and to be chosen as follows: two (2)
from the Division of Labor and Industry; one (1) from the Workmen's
Compensation Commission; two (2) from the State Department of Education; two
(2) from representatives of labor; two (2) from representatives of industry; and two
(2) from representatives of the general public. AND TWO (2) EACH FROM
THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF DELEGATES OF THE MARYLAND
GENERAL ASSEMBLY and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Commission shall determine if there is a need to revise
the existing Child Labor Laws of Maryland, and in its determination of these
questions, shall hear testimony and collect and study data from whatever source
available; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Commission shall make its findings and report its
recommendation to the Governor and Legislative Council on or before September
1, 1974, and submit its report to the General Assembly at the next following
session of the General Assembly; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Attorney General of Maryland shall be the legal adviser
to said Commission; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Governor make available to said Commission funds
deemed necessary to pay the cost and expenses of making said investigation, study,
and report; and be it further
