CHAPTER 83
(Senate Bill 563)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 6-112 of Article
66-1/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume), title
"Vehicle Laws," subtitle "Subtitle 6. Drivers' Licenses," subheading "Part I.
Issuance of Licenses, Expiration and Renewal," to provide that a licensee
release possession of his license to a uniformed police officer upon demand.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 6-112 of Article 66-1/2 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume), title "Vehicle Laws," subtitle "Subtitle 6.
Drivers' Licenses," subheading "Part I. Issuance of Licenses, Expiration and
Renewal," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

6-112.

Every licensee shall have his license in his immediate possession when driving a
motor vehicle upon the highways of this State, and shall [[[ ]] display it upon
demand by a uniformed police officer, [[] ]] [[RELEASE POSSESSION OF HIS
LICENSE TO A UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICER UPON DEMAND FOR
THE PURPOSES OF INSPECTION AND VERIFICATION BY THE
OFFICER,]] and the licensee shall have endorsed thereon in the proper
handwriting of the licensee the name of the licensee; and when requested by a
proper officer in the discharge of his duties under the law the licensee shall write
his name in the presence of the officer to the end that the identity of said licensee
may be determined. No license shall be valid unless the name of the licensee has
been so endorsed. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION DISPLAY
MEANS THE MANUAL SURRENDER OF THE LICENSEE'S LICENSE
CERTIFICATE INTO THE HANDS OF THE DEMANDING OFFICER FOR
HIS INSPECTION.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 84
(Senate Bill 568)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 11-1003(a) of Article
66-1/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume and
1972 Supplement), title "Vehicle Laws", subtitle "Subtitle 11 Rules of the
Road", subheading "Part X. Stopping, Standing and Parking", to provide that
no person shall stand or park a vehicle within 30 feet upon the approach to any
yield sign under certain conditions.
