(House Bill 598)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 23(a) of Article 49B of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume), title "Human
Relations Commission," subtitle "Discrimination in Housing," to prohibit
certain discriminatory financing practices on the basis of the sex or marital
status of a person.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 23(a) of Article 49B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume), title "Human Relations Commission,"
subtitle "Discrimination in Housing," is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

23.

(a) It shall be unlawful for any bank, savings and loan institution, credit union,
insurance company, or other person regularly engaged in the business of making
mortgages or other loans for the purchase, construction, improvement, or repair or
maintenance of dwellings to deny such a loan to a person applying therefor, or
discriminate against him in the fixing of the down payment, interest rate, duration,
or other terms or conditions of such a loan, because of the race, color, religious
creed, MARITAL STATUS, SEX or national origin of such person, or of any
member, stockholder, director, officer, or employee of such person, or of the
prospective occupants, lessees, or tenants, of the dwelling or dwellings in relation
to which the application for a loan is made.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to add new § 568Y to Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1972 Supplement), title "Health", subtitle "Health Services Cost Review
Commission", to follow immediately after § 568X thereof, to require Trustees
directors, and officers of non-profit hospitals and non-profit related institutions
who are also employees, partners, officers, [[or shareholders]] directors or
owners of a certain percentage of a partnership, [[association]] corporation or
other business association to file an annual report or statement with the Health
Services Cost Review Commission disclosing all business transactions between
the hospital or. non-profit related institutions and the Trustee's director's or
officer's, business [[association]] if the [[net worth of these transactions]]
annual actual or imputed value or worth of any transaction to the business
