1196                                      LAWS OF MARYLAND                                Ch. 553

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, [[That new Section 14-113(d-l) be and it is hereby added to
Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume),
title "Vehicle Laws," subtitle "Subtitle 14. Size, Weight and Load," to follow
immediately after Section 14-113(d) thereof, and]] that new Sections 1-106.1,
1-148.1, 1-204.1, and 1-205.1 be and they are hereby added to Article 66 1/2 of the
Code (1970 Replacement Volume), [[same title,]] title "Vehicle Laws." subtitle
"Subtitle 1. Words and Phrases Defined," to follow immediately after Sections
1-106, 1-148, 1-204, and 1-205 thereof, respectively, all to read as follows:

(D-1) THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION RELATING TO THE
IMPOSITION OF RESTRICTIONS AGAINST THE OPERATION OF
VEHICLES OF CERTAIN WEIGHT ON ROADS AND HIGHWAYS DO
NOT APPLY TO VEHICLES [[KNOWN OR DESIGNATED AS]]
MEETING THE DEFINITION OF CAMPING TRAILERS, MOTOR
HOMES, TRAVEL TRAILERS, AND TRUCK CAMPERS.]]

1-106.1.

"CAMPING TRAILER" MEANS A VEHICULAR PORTABLE UNIT
MOUNTED ON WHEELS AND CONSTRUCTED WITH COLLAPSIBLE
PARTIAL SIDE WALLS WHICH FOLD FOR TOWING BY ANOTHER
VEHICLE AND UNFOLD AT THE CAMP SITE SO PROVIDE
TEMPORARY LIVING QUARTERS FOR RECREATIONAL CAMPING,
OR TRAVEL USE.

1-148.1.

"MOTOR HOME" MEANS A VEHICULAR UNIT BUILT ON A
SELF-PROPELLED MOTOR VEHICLE CHASSIS, PRIMARILY
DESIGNED TO PROVIDE TEMPORARY LIVING QUARTERS FOR
RECREATIONAL, CAMPING, OR TRAVEL USE.

1-204.1.

"TRAVEL TRAILER" MEANS A VEHICULAR PORTABLE UNIT
WHICH IS (1) MOUNTED ON WHEELS, (2) OF SUCH A SIZE OR
WEIGHT AS NOT TO REQUIRE SPECIAL HIGHWAY MOVEMENT
PERMITS WHEN DRAWN BY A MOTORIZED VEHICLE, (3)
PRIMARILY DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED TO PROVIDE
TEMPORARY LIVING QUARTERS FOR RECREATIONAL, CAMPING,
OR TRAVEL USE, AND (4) NO MORE THAN EIGHT FEET IN BODY
WIDTH AND NO MORE THAN [[32]] 35 FEET IN BODY LENGTH
WHEN FACTORY-EQUIPPED FOR ROAD USE.

1-205.1.

"TRUCK CAMPER" MEANS A PORTABLE UNIT DESIGNED TO BE
LOADED ONTO [[,]] AND AFFIXED TO THE BED OR CHASSIS OF A
VEHICLE AND CONSTRUCTED TO PROVIDE TEMPORARY LIVING
QUARTERS FOR RECREATIONAL, CAMPING, OR TRAVEL USE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
