[Somerset,] Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Cecil, Howard and Queen
Anne's (except as specifically provided in subsection (f)) counties,
in addition to, but not in substitution of, the powers which have
been or may hereafter be granted them, shall have the following
express powers:
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

(House Bill 1122)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3 of
Chapter 780 of the Laws of Maryland, 1959 Edition, as amended,
BY CHAPTER 173 OF THE LAWS OF 1965 (being also
Section 59-3 of the Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County, 1963 Edition as amended), and being also Section
70-7 of the Montgomery County Code, 1965 Edition as amended,
by Chapter 173 of the Laws of 1965, being Articles 17 and 16,
respectively, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, titled
"Prince George's County" and "Montgomery County," subtitled
"Park and Planning Commission," to provide for the continuation
of service of members of the Maryland-National Capital Park and
Planning Commission after their term expires and a successor
has not been appointed and qualified in Prince George's County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3 of Chapter 780 of the Laws of Maryland, 1959
Edition, (being also Section 59-3 of the Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County, 1963 Edition as amended, and being also Section
70-7 of the Montgomery County Code, 1965 Edition as amended, by
Chapter 173 of the Laws of 1965, being Articles 17 and 16, respec-
tively, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, titled "Prince
George's County" and "Montgomery County," subtitled "Park and
Planning Commission," be and the same are hereby repealed and
re-enacted to read as follows,:
3. (70-7) (59-3) Terms of members.
The term of office of each member of the Commission shall be for
four years. Appointments shall be made on or before June 15 of the
year in which any appointment is to be made, and terms of office
shall begin as of that date and if any appointment is not made as
provided in Section 2 a vacancy exists which shall be filled as provided
in this subtitle for the filling of vacancies on the Commission. The
members of the Commission in office immediately prior to June 1,
1959, shall remain in office under the provisions of this subtitle for
the remainder of the terms to which respectively appointed. Those
terms shall expire on the following dates: two from each county on
June 14, 1959; one from each county on June 14, 1960; one from
each county on June 14, 1961; and one from each county on
June 14, 1962. Members [from Montgomery County] may continue
to serve until their successors are appointed and have qualified.
