(f) For each calendar month or fraction thereof commencing on
the first day of assignment, during which, under such rules and regu-
lations as shall be established by the Commissioner of Correction, he
is deemed to have manifested satisfactory industry, application, and
progress in such special selected work projects, or other special pro-
grams, designated by the Commissioner of Correction and approved
by the Secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Correc-
tional Services, assigned to him, he may be allowed an additional
deduction of days, not exceeding five (5) in number, for each month
of the period of his commitment or sentence.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

(Senate Bill 636)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 70-1(q),
70-2(d)(2) and 70-20(a) of Article 26 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement), title
"Courts," subtitle "Juvenile Causes," to amend the definition of
"aftercare supervision" to include children adjudicated in need of
supervision, to provide that the juvenile court has jurisdiction of
a child charged with certain violations of the motor vehicles laws,
and to provide that commitments for children adjudicated in need
of supervision shall expire three years from the date entered.
Section 1. Be it enacted by' the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 70-l(q), 70-2(d) (2) and 70-20(a) of Article 26 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1971
Supplement), title "Courts," subtitle "Juvenile Causes," be and they
are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
70-1.
(q) "Aftercare supervision" is a status created by a court order
in ([delinquency proceedings] any proceeding under this subtitle
whereby a minor who has previously been adjudicated a delinquent
child or a child in need of supervision and committed to an institu-
tion is released from the commitment under the supervision of an
agency designated by the court under conditions the judge or the
agency deems proper.

(d) The court does not have jurisdiction over:
(2) A proceeding involving a child who has reached his 16th
birthday, alleged to have done an act in violation of any provision
of Article 66½ or any other traffic law or ordinance (other than
manslaughter by automobile, possession of a stolen motor vehicle,
unauthorized use or occupancy of a motor vehicle, tampering with a
