of Special Appeals, increasing the number of copies of the Mary-
land Reports and Maryland Appellate Reports purchased by the
State, repealing the requirement of paying for advertising for
proposals for publication, and relating generally to the publica-
tion of opinions of the Court of Appeals and the Court of Special
Appeals.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 3 and 4 of Article 80 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title "Reporter—State" be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and
that Section 46C of Article 17 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1966 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement), title "Clerks
of Courts," subtitle "Clerk of Court of Special Appeals," be and it
is hereby repealed, all to read as follows:
3. Publication of reports; clerical assistance; advertising; copy.
Said Reporter, under the supervision of the Court of Appeals of
this State, shall prepare for publication reports of all the cases
argued and determined in the Court of Appeals and the Court of
Special Appeals of this State designated by said courts to be re-
ported within six months from the time when the same shall have
been determined. The reports in all cases shall be published in such
form and shall contain such material as the Court of Appeals and
the Court of Special Appeals may, from time to time, determine.
The Reporter shall, in the usual manner of authors, superintend
the publications, correction and proofreading of such reports, and
shall secure the copyright for the State of Maryland and as its
property; and in addition to his aforesaid salary shall receive such
sum as may be provided in the State budget for clerical assistance.
[The cost of advertising for proposals for the publication of said
reports shall be paid by the Comptroller upon the presentation of
properly authenticated vouchers.] The [Clerk] clerks of the Court
of Appeals and of the Court of Special Appeals shall promptly de-
liver to the State Reporter accurate [typewritten] copies of all
the opinions of [the Court of Appeals] those courts [to be paid
for by the said clerk out of the fees of his office].
4. Contracts for reports. [; three hundred copies for State
Library.]
The State Reporter, under the direction and supervision of the
Court of Appeals of Maryland shall arrange for the publication of
the Maryland Reports containing opinions of the Court of Appeals
and the Maryland Appellate Reports containing opinions of the
Court of Special Appeals and let the necessary contracts for such
reports. Such contracts may be awarded upon such terms and condi-
tions as the State Reporter shall, under the direction and supervi-
sion of the Court of Appeals of Maryland, deem necessary. The
publisher shall deliver to the State Library [three] four hundred
copies of each volume of the Maryland Reports and three hundred
and seventy-five copies of each volume of the Maryland Appellate
Reports bound in first-class buckram; and the State shall pay there-
for to the publisher the contract price per volume for each of [said
three hundred] the said volumes.
