2834                            County Local Laws

300-24. Electric wires over water. Except as otherwise pro-
vided in this Chapter, no overhead electric wire shall pass over any
body of water, whether natural or man-made, nor shall any overhead
wire be closer than ten feet from such body of water, measured
horizontally.

83-62. Section 390-4 and Section 390-5 added.

New Sections 390-4 and 390-5 are hereby added to the 1968
National Electrical Code adopted by this Chapter to follow immediately
after Section 390-3 thereof, and to read as follows:

390-4. Certificate of Compliance Required. The manufacturer
of any mobile homes, prefabricated or modular dwelling, building or
other structure shall for each such dwelling, building or other struc-
ture for sale and/or use in Montgomery County execute a certificate
assuring that all electrical fixtures, wiring and electrical installations
therein are in compliance with the provisions of the Montgomery
County Electrical Code and the National Electrical Code adopted by
and in force in Montgomery County. It shall be unlawful to import
any mobile homes prefabricated or modular dwelling, building or
other structure into Montgomery County or to sell any such dwelling,
building or other structure in Montgomery County for which a certifi-
cate of compliance has not been executed in accordance with this
Section.

390-5. Inspection of Mobile Homes, Prefabricated Dwellings,
Buildings, Etc.

(a)    Montgomery County is authorized to inspect mobile homes,
prefabricated or modular dwellings, buildings or other structures in-
tended for importation to or sale or use in Montgomery County at the
place of manufacture and prior to the concealment of electrical instal-
lations in any such mobile homes, prefabricated or modular dwelling,
building or other structure. The Director of the Department of
Inspection and Licenses is authorized to authorize electrical inspec-
tions of mobile homes, prefabricated or modular dwellings by any
qualified inspector employed by the County or any qualified individual
authorized to conduct such inspections by Underwriters' Laboratories,
Inc. or any similar organization not affiliated with a manufacturer.

(b)    Every manufacturer of mobile homes, prefabricated or
modular dwellings, buildings or other structure, building or manu-
facturing such dwellings, buildings or other structures for importation
to or sale or use in Montgomery County shall, prior to the concealment
of electrical installations in such dwellings, buildings or other struc-
tures, give written notice to the Department of Inspection and Li-
censes for Montgomery County of the manufacture of such dwellings,
buildings or other structures. Montgomery County shall, upon receipt
of such notice, notify the manufacturer of a scheduled inspection or
authorize the concealment of the electrical installation.
