(c) As an alternative to the procedure prescribed by sub-section
(b) above, and at the option of the manufacturer, the manufacturer
may request inspection by Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc. Certifi-
cation by Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc. that electrical installations
conform to the standards and requirements of Montgomery County,
the Montgomery County Electrical Code and the National Electrical
Code as adopted and in force in Montgomery County shall be sufficient
evidence of compliance with the provisions of this Section.
(d) Nothing herein shall be construed to require the inspection
of electrical installations in mobile homes, prefabricated or modular
dwellings, buildings or other structures by Montgomery County, nor
shall anything herein be construed to limit the right to inspection
conferred by any other section or Chapter of the Montgomery County
Code or other applicable law.
83-63. Section 422-20 amended. Section 422-20 of the 1968 National
Electrical Code adopted by this Chapter is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Section 422-20. Disconnecting Means.
(a) Generally. Each appliance shall be provided with a means
for disconnection from all ungrounded conductors as required by the
sections. Where an appliance is supplied by more than one source,
this disconnecting means shall be grouped and identified.
(b) Central air conditioning units. All central air conditioning
units shall be protected by a disconnect capable of being locked in the
"off" position and which shall disconnect all ungrounded conductors
from the air conditioning unit.
83-64. Section 422-41 amended.
Section 422-41 of the 1968 National Electrical Code adopted by
this Chapter is hereby amended to read as follows:
"422-41. Grounding. Each room air conditioning unit shall be
grounded, and the receptacle on the circuit serving the unit shall be
of the grounding type, suitable for the voltage and current required
by the unit. See also Sections 250-42, 43 and 45."
83-65. Section 422-42 amended. Section 422-42 of the 1968 Na-
tional Electrical Code adopted by this Chapter is hereby
amended to read as follows:
422-42. Branch Circuit Requirements.
(a) The total marked rating of motor-operated air-conditioning
equipment shall not exceed 80 per cent of the rating of a branch circuit
which does not supply lighting units or other appliances.
(b) The name plate marking of a room air-conditioner shall be
used in determining the branch circuit requirements, and each unit
